The Armenian Pre-Med Society was established in June 2019 by UCLA undergraduate Sofia Yeremian with the purpose of uniting an Armenian community and establishing a support system to help young academics thrive toward their goals of becoming physicians. Following the establishment of this organization, APS created a close alliance with the Armenian American Medical Society, teaming undergraduate students with Armenian medical students, residents and physicians in various fields of medicine. This close alliance has enabled young academics to network with other students and physicians who can serve as guides and mentors throughout their pre-medical journey.

By being based at UCLA, the Armenian Pre-Med Society has access to numerous great resources and personnel that can be shared and utilized by students on other college campuses. Whether it be collaborating with the Undergraduate Research Center to guide students on how to get involved in research or teaming up with UCLA’s ROTC to host physicians that have served on medical school admissions committees, APS’s main goal is to find networks, opportunities and information to make the pre-medical journey easier for Armenian students, and in many ways, put them at an advantage over others.

If you are a student, share this page with your peers, follow us on Instagram to stay up to date with events and reach out to us if you have any questions. If you are a parent, teacher or know someone who is on the pre-medical pathway, encourage them to join our organization! Lastly, if you are a physician, medical student, or anyone who can provide this organization with more resources or beneficial information, please reach out to Sofia in the contact section below and share your insight! This organization is based on a strong, Armenian community and will only continue to grow through persistent community efforts and interventions. We shall unite, educate and grow together.

Thank you.
